Lake Motosu Fuji

Another Mount Fuji painting! And this time overlooking the gorgeous Lake Motosu. It was a brilliant day for viewing all the amazing colors of Autumn. I took loads of photos, and one of them was worthy of being transformed into a watercolor painting.

The blue of the lake against the reds, oranges and greens of the trees on the hills surrounding. Fuji was clear and crisp, with a wispy cloud floating across every once in a while.

I stayed down by this lake until the sun went down over the mountain behind me. I kept running from the shadows to bask in the lingering sun warmth, while my son played in the sand with his new construction site toys. He was wondering why I was moving further and further away from him. He is obviously very warm blooded and didn't need to be in the sun. Either that or completely focused on his task at hand: scooping up dirt into his dump truck with his excavator.

This painting is 5 x 7 and going to be a Christmas present! I love when I get to be a part of the surprise :) even if I don't know the person receiving the gift, and won't see their reaction.

Here's a video of the works in progress.

And here's the completed painting: Lake Motosu Fuji
