Watercolor on 140lb cold-pressed paper
6 x 9 inches
I'm missing these beautiful hanging lanterns at temples in South Korea.
These are hung every May for Buddha’s birthday at Beomeosa Temple in Busan. I love the light filtering through. The shadows the lanterns create. The kaleidoscope of colors. The fluttering tails in the wind. I added two older ladies in their pretty hanboks making their way down the tunnel.
This painting is another to my Lanterns Series.
I have one more lantern painting in mind featuring Korea.
