Portrait of South Africa

The woman painted our faces with white paint: dots and daisies around the eyes, cheeks, and forehead. This was part of the entertainment at Moyo Restaurant in Cape Town. It was fun; it was touristy. Within this portrait are some of South Africa’s beauty spots: from the immense animals roaming Kruger National Park, Great White Sharks off of Seal Island to rescued elephants at Addo. The green mountains of the Drakensberg to Table Mountain and the rocky layers of Blyde River Canyon. Eager children at school in a Township to dancers of the Pha-Zulu and wooden carved market wares. The lush landscape of the Garden Route contrasting with the red rock deserts of the Karoo.
