Ao

Blue is seen in many mens Yukata and kimono patterns. Blue indigo dye. The color of fidelity, coolness, and passivity. Its an extremely popular color for business suits and school uniforms. This gentleman's aged face is stoic and raised; held with quiet dignity. Photo Montage Print Click the link below to purchase prints.

Midori

I think of Green Japan during the summer months walking through bamboo forests, maple tree leaves, and cultivated pine trees. Matcha and green tea to refresh and revive oneself. A respect and an enjoyment of nature. Youth, eternity, vitality and energy. The Geishas kimono was green and filled with maple leaves. She performed several dances in honor of nature. Aka

Red symbolizes strength, passion, self-sacrifice, and blood. The little girls face is fully made up as a Geisha. So much of her kimono was red and pink. Photo Montage Print Click the link below to purchase prints.

Circle of Cranes

Manhole Covers of Japan series: One of my great delights has been in the manhole covers of Japan. Each district has its own unique picture on them. It's one extra thing to look forward to when we go off exploring for the weekend. Using the round design like a stencil or silhouette, I arranged the colorful photos underneath. They remind me of the round windows in Zen gardens, as well as stained glass windows. Photo Montage Print Click the link below to purchase prints.

Portrait of South Africa

Part of the Portrait Of series. Some of the spectacular views of South Africa, from the wildlife, the beach, mountain peaks, traditional dances of the Pha-Zulu, markets and much more! Photo Montage Print Click the link below to purchase prints.

Portrait of Lesotho i

Bright blue skies over luscious green hills and mountains. The village was a treat. The children were delightful. They were familiar with tourists, and cameras. Barely any reserve or shyness. At ease for the attention of tourists with cameras and conversation. Each little rambunctious soul wanted their photo taken, and then checked the back of my camera screen to check their photo. Portrait of Korea i

The people of this montage are a collection of my festival photographs. The Jindo Sea Parting, a wedding in a park, New Years Day celebrations, the incredibly packed beach of Haeundae Beach in Busan. Hikers resting on the mountain, elderly waiting for the bus, palace guards at Gyeonbokgung in Seoul. The women selling fruit and vegetables in Shinae (downtown).

Portrait of Vietnam

This little girls intent stare captured my lens. She dressed to impress the stream of tourists passing through the Sapa mountain villages. The girls had little keychain trinkets for sale. Her expression clearly states she does not love her occupation. The montage consists of landscape scenery, historic icons, and people. I like to think she is wearing her culture. Representing. Portrait of Korea

The montage is filled with places and seasons, historic structures, statues, and monuments. The rugged mountains and skyscrapers. I have not included too many people in this portrait. Perhaps I will do another Korea portrait with more people constructing it. Photo Montage Print Click the link below to purchase prints.

Portrait of China

The montage is a mix of the historic locations, buildings, and icons, plus people. My favorite discovery was the life in the Hutongs. What a warren of narrow streets and close living quarters. It wouldn't have been as exquisite to peruse in the Summertime. The bitter cold made it all the more interesting to see life happening outside in the sunshine. Haircuts, markets, food preparation, shopping. Photo Montage Print Click the link below to purchase prints.

Azulejo Azores

The tile mosaic scenes fill the Azorian Islands. Azul blue waves hitting the wild, black volcanic rocks along Terceira's coastline. The beach and docks. The steeple churches in every village. Flags hung out for religious celebrations. Bull fights and bull runs, Hydrangeas filling the countryside in all glorious colors. Huge, bulbous beached trees. Traditional dances and parades through the village streets. Photo Montage Print Click the link below to purchase prints.

How long, Ha Long Bay?

The blues, teals, and turquoises of Ha Long Bay, Vietnam. Those rocks went on forever, with mist settling in on the furthest horizons. Photo Montage Print Click the link below to purchase prints.

Vietnamese Lantern

The Vietnamese lantern is iconic. Each section of this visually constructed lantern is a segment of my memories from my trip. The lanterns in Hoi An. The misty, blue rocks of Ha Long Bay. Villagers in the Sapa mountains with woven baskets on their backs, walking alongside the road. Traditional dancers at My Son temple. The triangular straw hat many farmers wear. And the tiered rice paddies. Photo Montage Print Click the link below to purchase prints.
